Nonsuch Relays Deliver Fast Times and Close Racing

More than 150 teams descended on Nonsuch Park on Tuesday 16 June for another superb evening of relay racing, with fierce competition across seven categories ranging from junior athletes to veteran runners.

The event showcased the strength of local athletics clubs across Surrey and South London, with outstanding performances from SLH Harriers, Sutton & District AC, Epsom & Ewell Harriers, Reigate Priory and many others.

The evening produced some outstanding performances, particularly in the Senior Men's race where Sutton & District AC B claimed victory in 36:03, just six seconds ahead of Washed Up Warriors. The quality at the front was exceptional, with the top four teams separated by only 35 seconds and eight athletes breaking the nine-minute barrier.

SLH Harriers enjoyed a particularly successful evening, winning the Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Senior Women's titles, while Reigate Priory Women Vets A and Team Still Got It took the veteran honours.

Among the standout performances of the evening were Rafe Man's race-leading 8:47 leg in the Senior Men's race, Wilfred Hughes' outstanding 9:10 for the winning SLH junior boys team, James Wilson's 9:44 in the Veteran Men's competition and Aaliyah Tharmakulasingam's 10:21, the fastest female split of the night.

The Mixed Relay provided one of the stories of the evening, with The Chang Team taking victory through a family quartet of Jacqueline, Jacob, Thomas and Joe Chang.
