World Masters Championships, Toruń
Epsom & Ewell Harriers have every reason to celebrate, as Lisa Boland and Anne Nelson made their mark on the world stage at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships 2023 in Torun, Poland. With intense training and sheer determination, Lisa and Anne proved to be formidable competitors in their respective categories.
Lisa Boland, competing in the W40 category, produced exceptional performances in the 60m and 200m races. Her hard work paid off when she secured a silver medal in the 60m with a personal best time of 7.82 seconds, and a bronze medal in the 200m with a time of 25.85 seconds. And if that wasn't impressive enough, Lisa went on to earn another silver medal in the W40 4x200m relay.
Anne Nelson, who competed in the W70 category, proved that age is just a number with her outstanding performances. She secured bronze medals in both the 60m (10.19 seconds) and the 200m (35.69 seconds).
Simon Bean, President of Epsom & Ewell Harriers, could not be prouder of the accomplishments of both Lisa and Anne. He remarked, "Their hard work and dedication have paid off tremendously. We are extremely proud of Lisa and Anne for representing our club with such determination and sportsmanship."
Congratulations to Lisa and Anne on their impressive achievements at the World Master Athletics Indoor Championships 2023!

Surrey XC Championships, Lloyd Park, 7 January 2023
It was a great day at the Surrey Champs in Lloyd Park, despite the rather damp and muddy conditions! Well done to everyone who ran on a very tough course. It was a record turnout by the E&E juniors!
Particular congratulations to Lily Brown on a fantastic individual silver🥈in the u17W race. She combined with Gabby Ceccherini (7th U20W) and Sophie Glencross (6th U17W) to claim team bronze 🥉 in the combined U17W/U20W team competition. It was unfortunate that there wasn’t a separate team competition for U17W as E&E dominated and claimed an honorary team gold 🥇 with Grace Fordham 8th, Matilda Laidlaw 10th providing great support to Lily and Sophie, with Poppy Mitchell close behind in 12th.
Estee Norman produced a strong performance to finish 4th in the U15Gs. She combined with Sabrina Coppola-Johansen 8th, Matilda Kotcheff 18th and Florence White 32nd to claim team bronze 🥉 by just 1 point. Special mention to Florence who has only just returned after being injured for 3 months and her sprint finish was just enough (she finished only 1 second ahead of 33rd) to clinch the team bronze to show clearly how important every place can be!
The u15 boys packed really well to claim a brilliant team silver 🥈in a very competitive race. Benjy Carr led the team home in 11th, with Joe McDonald 15th, Tom Holland 17th and Harvey O’Shea 21st.
There was also a team bronze 🥉for the U20M with Henry Smith 11th, George Hannay 16th and Alex Rodriguez 21st.
Unfortunately, the u17M team was depleted by illness so didn’t complete a scoring team but Jack Piper ran well to lead the team home in 22nd, with Dan Slaven struggling will illness doing well to make it around in 24th and Dan Simpson 26th.
The u13Bs team just missed out on the medals, finishing 4th only 3 points behind South London Harriers. Samuel Tsolo had a strong run to finish 10th with Daniel Street 26th, Matthew Van Zyl 29th and Jacob Duke 30th.
Izzy Wilson was first home for E&E, finishing 19th in a very strong U13Gs race. She combined with Charlotte Coleman 35th, Tabitha Tooke 38th and Charlotte Hall 42nd with the team finishing 8th.
The senior men’s team finished 9th with Steve Winder 29th and Dan Wolff 38th. Unfortunately, we only had 3 senior women but there were strong runs from Becky McNicholas 35th, Sheridan Marshall 56th and Louisa Harold 61st.
